New Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu says he belives he can still learn so much from fellow Ibrox newbie Pedro Mendes.

Both players arrived at Rangers in the summer but Edu says his Portuguese teammate is the one to help him improve his own game.

The American international only made his full debut last weekend but says he is already looking to pick things up from the former Portsmouth and Spurs midfield playmaker.

"Pedro's a great player and it's good to play with him. He makes things a lot easier for me and I can learn a lot from his movement and his creativity.

"He could be the key to making me a better player."

The young star has had a busy start to his career in Scotland, largely because of his international commitments. Despite all the travelling though Edu says he is keen now to settle in Glasgow and refocus on his goals.

"Since I signed for Rangers, I've been to Guatemala, Toronto, Cuba and Miami. I've been everywhere with the national team and last month I was in China at the Olympics.

"I've picked up a lot of air miles but it's all for a good cause. We are going well and are only a couple of points shy of qualifying for the World Cup."

"It's been a hectic time for me and I've been back and forth a few times but I'm here for a while now so hopefully that will help me settle in.

"I found the game much quicker here. The guys are more technical but it is also a real battle.

"The MLS is getting better all the time but you have seasoned veterans here, players who have performed in Champions League and UEFA Cup.

"My main aim is to sample that and become a better player. I also want to win championships with Rangers.

"That's what I'm here to do because I think we're capable of winning a few."
