It was a good day for Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven on Sunday as nearest challengers Ajax and Feyenoord both slipped up in the race for the title.

Ajax fell to a 2-1 loss at FC Twente after Eljero Elia's stoppage-time goal snatched the points for the home side.

A Douglas Franco own goal had given Ajax a 63rd-minute lead but the scores were levelled by Luke Wilkshire eight minutes later.

Feyenoord were also undone by a last-minute winner in the 3-2 derby defeat to Sparta Rotterdam.

A Nourdin Boukhari double had put Sparta 2-1 ahead after Theo Lucius' 12th-minute opener, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst restored in parity in the 63rd minute for Feyenoord.

The match looked to be heading for a draw until Marvin Emnes popped up in the dying seconds to seal the win for the hosts.

PSV, who recorded a 3-0 victory over FC Groningen on Saturday following goals from Danny Koevermans (two) and Otman Bakkal, are seven points clear of second-placed Ajax and hold a 10-point cushion over Feyenoord with just four matches remaining.

Also on Sunday, Willem II boosted their survival hopes with a 2-1 success over Heracles Almelo.

George Mourad broke the deadlock for the Tilburg club shortly after the interval before Frank Demouge added a second in the 69th minute.

Robbert Schilder pulled a goal back for Heracles three minutes later but Willem II held on for the victory which moves them within a point of the safety zone.

VVV Venlo slipped into the bottom two though after a 2-1 defeat at home to UEFA Cup play-off chasers NEC Nijmegen.

Although Keisuke Honda steered VVV in front on 34 minutes, NEC hit back after the interval with Jhon Van Beukering netting the equaliser before Bas Sibum grabbed the winner in the final minute.
